Ilham G. Barone, M.D.
Family Medicine

Dr. Barone grew up in Westchester, California and graduated pre-med from UCLA in 1989. She graduated from Albany Medical School in New York in 1993 and returned to California to complete her internship and residency in Family Medicine at Loma Linda University Medical Center in 1996.

In addition to treating the whole family, she has a special interest in Women's health, nutrition and weight loss management. Dr Barone is now accepting new patients.

Erwinn Sistoza, M.D.
Internal Medicine

Dr. Sistoza joined Access Medical Group in July, 2007 after having worked as an Internal Medicine specialist in San Diego, California for five years. He graduated from the University of Ramon in the Philippines in 1993, then did a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency at the Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

Recently, he completed a one-year Fellowship in Geriatrics at the Drew/UCLA Medical School in Los Angeles. Dr. Sistoza is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine. He has a special interest and expertise in the needs of the elderly.

Dr. Robert Berkowitz graduated from
New York University with a pre-medicine major in 1952. He attended medical
school at the University of Amsterdam, graduating in 1960.

He trained in Internal Medicine at the Veterans Hospital in New York, then went into the private practice of internal medicine. He joined UCLA medical group in 1997 and moved to Access Medical Group in 2004.

Internal Medicine

Dr. Krems graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1989. He completed his residency at the UCLA/Wadsworth VA in Internal Medicine, where he also served an additional year as the Chief Medical Resident. He is Board-certified in Internal Medicine and has been at Access Medical Group since 1993. Along with his more conventional training, Dr. Krems is also certified in medical acupuncture and is an expert in herbal therapy. He has had particularly good success with herbal treatment of Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's disease, the menopause, premenstrual issues, headaches and a variety of other ailments.

Jonathan D. Rand, M.D.
Internal Medicine

Dr. Rand graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Medical School. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the UCLA-San Fernando Valley program. The American Board of Internal Medicine certified Dr. Rand in 1980.

He is on active staff at Daniel Freeman Marina Hospital and is currently chairman of Medical Education. Dr. Rand has particular interest in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. He also specializes in Travel Medicine.

Dr. Robins graduated from the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands, and obtained her M.D. and medical license in 1983. She completed her research fellowship at the VA Medical Center in Northridge, California and followed that with training in internal medicine at L.A. County/USC Medical Center. Dr. Robins was Board-certified in Family Practice by the American Association of Physician Specialists in 1998. She heads our Saturday Urgent Care clinic.

Dr. Andrea Ruman graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Human Biology in 1989 and then went on to study medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. She received an MD in 1994 and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at UCLA. From 1997 to 2004 she was an Asst. Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCLA and was involved with resident and medical student teaching as well as direct patient care. Dr. Ruman is Board-certified in Internal Medicine and joins Access Medical Group as a new member in May, 2004. Her interests include women's health, preventive medicine, and weight loss counseling.

Dr. Sobel received both his undergraduate as well as his Medical degree at University fo California, Los Angeles. He completed both his internship, as well as his residency at UCLA San Fernando Valley Program. He was certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1981 and currently serves as the Co-President of the Daniel Freeman I.P.A. and Physician Advisor for Daniel Freeman Hospitals. Dr. Sobel also specializes in Travel Medicine.

Access Medical Group, sub-specializing in Gerontology. He has been a full-time, Board-certified Internal Medicine specialist since 1987, and has been with the practice since 1991. After obtaining his B.A. in Philosophy from the Claremont Colleges, Dr. Steinberg graduated with honors from the University of Nevada School of Medicine in 1984. He did his residency at Huntington Memorial Hospital / U.S.C. in Pasadena, CA.
